Community Relations Specialist
Part-Time Contractor, $20/hour
We’re looking for candidates who have a heart of service and are energetic, intelligent, hardworking, eager to learn and ready to work in a dynamic, fast-paced professional environment.
The primary role of this position will be the planning, set up and execution of The Hub Center’s community outreach endeavors to connect service seekers with service providers. The ability to expand The Hub Center’s current relationships and collaborating within the communities we serve along with entering new and diverse communities and building relationships is essential. The right candidate must possess excellent organizational, writing, presentation and leadership skills, along with a demonstrated ability to work with community leaders and diverse groups of volunteers. This position will require hours outside of normal business hours to include evenings and weekends.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be:
- Composing draft letters and emails for internal and external communication
- Scheduling meetings with critical decision makers and contributors
- Maintaining The Hub Center’s online database
- Report to Stakeholders, including non-profits (service providers) and city/council officials
- Develop presentations to onboard new non-profit contributors (service providers)
- Meet with community leaders
- Interview service seekers; interface between service seeks and service providers
- Communicating status with the initiative leads on a regular basis
- Help initiative leads with research and analysis
- Research best practices for the success of The Hub Center
- Problem solving
- Public relations
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience with Google Drive
- Ability to create and maintain both electronic and paper documentation/libraries/files
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow-up on activities
- Ability to multitask and work autonomously
- Well organized
- Ability to schedule, communicate, and coordinate meetings and presentations as requested
- Ability to adapt to new environments and learn new processes quickly
- Desired Qualifications:
- Document management and administration
- Online database management
- Ability to proof and finalize correspondence such as letters, contracts, and reports
- Grant writing experience
- Bilingual is a plus (Arabic and/or Farsi)
- Education, Certification, Training & Experience:
- Valid CA Drivers license and the ability to travel throughout the region is required
